Arshile Gorky

One Year the Milkweed, 1944

The Plough and the Song, 1947

Agony, 1947

Today there are new formulae for time and space. We travel fast and must master these new formulae before they master us. Today nothing is too fantastic for the body or for the spirit. And so perhaps, bringing with us a fraction of Gorky's devotion, we should attempt a new flight of the perceptions towards the more rapid recognition, the almost instantaneous comprehension - not of everything new but of anything great.

JULIEN LEVY Paris, 1962
